Truecaller Brings Real-Time Caller ID and Spam Call Blocking to iOS 18 Users

On January 22, 2025, Truecaller announced the launch of its real-time Caller ID and automatic spam call blocking feature for iOS 18 users. This marks the first time that iOS users can enjoy these advanced features, which were previously only available on Android. Truecaller is rolling out these updates globally for paying subscribers of the app, which will likely contribute to a boost in its subscription revenues.

Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, shared his excitement about the launch: “After 15 years of Truecaller’s success, we are thrilled to offer iOS users the same leading Caller ID and spam blocking experience that we have perfected on Android. This new feature expands our market to more iOS users around the world.”

Fredrik Kjell, COO of Truecaller, added, “This launch accelerates our subscription revenue growth and brings us closer to our goal of surpassing 1 billion SEK in recurring revenue. We’re offering iOS users a free trial of the new features, and we believe this will significantly increase our conversion rates on iOS, which are already much higher than on Android.”

As of the end of 2024, around 30 million of Truecaller’s 435 million monthly active users (MAUs) are on iOS. About 750,000 of Truecaller’s 2.6 million paying subscribers are on iOS, and over 40% of Truecaller’s premium revenue comes from iOS users.

Previously, iOS users could only access a limited local database for Caller ID. With this update, Truecaller utilizes its AI capabilities and global database to identify more calls and block spam calls automatically. This is made possible by Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup framework, which uses advanced encryption to ensure privacy. Truecaller is the first to deploy this new framework on a large scale.

Additionally, Truecaller on iPhone now offers a Premium Family plan, allowing users to share premium benefits, like the AI Assistant, with up to four family members for a low price. In India, the Family plan also includes fraud insurance, protecting up to four family members from scams.

The new features will be available to all Truecaller Premium subscribers at the same pricing as the Android version. Free users will still have access to basic services like ad-supported number search and Verified Business Caller ID.

The auto-blocking of spam calls is available globally, while the new Caller ID feature will be rolled out to all users in the coming days.
