Karnataka Introduces a Convenient Online System for Ration Card Applications

The Karnataka Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department has launched a new online system for applying for ration cards. This initiative aims to provide a transparent, accessible, and cost-effective way for citizens to generate their ration cards.

Citizens can apply through the department’s website, http://ahara.kar.nic.in, by selecting the “e-Services” menu under “e-Ration.” Aadhaar-based authentication is mandatory for all applicants.

  4. User-Friendly Process: Applicants can select their fair price shop based on their location, and the eldest female member of the household is designated as the head as per the National Food Security Act of 2013.

Application Steps:

  1. Visit the website and choose “New Ration Card Request.”
  2. Authenticate using Aadhaar via OTP or fingerprint.
  3. Add family members and assign the head of the family (HoF).
  4. Select an address and fair price shop.
  5. Submit the application and pay a service charge of ₹70 upon delivery.
