DGS and C-DAC Sign MoU to Advance Maritime Technology and Innovation

In a significant step toward modernizing India’s maritime sector, the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has partnered with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). The two organizations signed an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to focus on innovation, digitalization, and technological advancements in the maritime industry.

The MoU was signed by Shri Shyam Jagannathan, Director General of Shipping, and Shri E. Magesh, Director General of C-DAC, at an event held at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The event was attended by senior officials from DGS, C-DAC, and MeitY, including Secretary Shri S. Krishnan and other stakeholders.

Key Areas of Collaboration

This partnership aims to modernize maritime administration by integrating advanced technologies to improve efficiency, safety, and innovation. The collaboration will focus on:

  1. Digitalization and Automation of maritime processes for seamless operations.
  2. Maritime Data Analytics and Predictive Modeling to enhance decision-making.
  3. Cybersecurity and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to safeguard the maritime ecosystem.
  4. Maritime Education and Training to equip professionals with advanced skills.
  5. Research and Development in emerging maritime technologies.

This MoU aligns with DGS’s vision of becoming a globally recognized maritime administration. Leveraging C-DAC’s expertise in high-performance computing, blockchain, and e-Governance, the partnership aims to create a sustainable and advanced maritime ecosystem in India.
