On the sacred occasion of Mauni Amavasya, the second Amrit Snan of the Mahakumbh 2025 witnessed crores of devotees immersing themselves in the holy waters at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. This historic event, emblematic of faith, unity, and India’s rich cultural diversity, drew both domestic and international participants.
Highlights of the Event:
- Historic Gesture by Akhadas: For the first time, the Akhadas, including Saints and Naga Sannyasis, delayed their traditional Brahma Muhurat Amrit Snan, allowing devotees to take the holy dip first. The decision, led by the Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad under Mahant Ravindra Puri, prioritized the sentiments of the gathered devotees. Following this, the Akhadas performed their ritualistic Amrit Snan symbolically.
- Participation by Religious Leaders: Shankaracharyas from Shringeri Sharada Peeth, Dwarka Sharada Peeth, and Jyotish Peeth took the holy dip while performing religious rituals and extended blessings for national welfare.
- Foreign Devotees and Global Recognition: International participants were deeply moved by India’s cultural and spiritual heritage, contributing to the global recognition of the Mahakumbh and its traditions.
