New Delhi, February 2, 2025 — In a significant move to honor India’s rich classical music tradition, Akashvani (All India Radio) and the Ministry of Culture have jointly launched a special radio series titled ‘Har Kanthh Mein Bharat.’ This initiative aims to showcase the diverse and vibrant shades of Indian classical music, bringing it to audiences across the nation.

Nationwide Broadcast Across 21 Stations

The series was inaugurated on Basant Panchami at the Pt. Ravishankar Music Studio, Broadcasting House, New Delhi. The program will be broadcast daily at 9:30 AM from 21 Akashvani stations, covering almost every part of the country. The series will continue until February 16, 2025, offering listeners a daily dose of India’s musical heritage.

Inaugural Ceremony Highlights

The launch event commenced with a floral offering to Goddess Saraswati by key dignitaries, including Shri Aruneesh Chawla, Secretary, Ministry of Culture; Shri Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO, Prasar Bharati; Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Director General, Akashvani; Ms. Ameeta Prasad Sarbhai, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture; and Ms. Kanchan Prasad, Director General, Doordarshan.

In her welcome address, Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur highlighted the spiritual significance of Basant Panchami, marking the rare confluence of Saraswati and Lakshmi as spring begins. She elaborated on the concept and schedule of ‘Har Kanthh Mein Bharat,’ expressing hope that this collaborative initiative will resonate deeply with audiences.

Digital Inauguration and Vision for the Future

The series was digitally inaugurated by Shri Aruneesh Chawla and Shri Gaurav Dwivedi, receiving a standing ovation from attendees. In his remarks, Shri Dwivedi underscored Akashvani’s historical role in promoting Indian culture and expressed optimism that such creative partnerships would open new avenues for cultural preservation.

Preserving Performing Arts in the Age of AI

In his keynote speech, Shri Aruneesh Chawla emphasized the importance of conserving performing arts in the age of artificial intelligence. He detailed various initiatives by the Ministry of Culture aimed at engaging the younger generation with traditional art forms, suggesting that such collaborations are vital for cultural continuity. He also indicated plans to expand this joint effort further.

Live Performances Captivate Audience

The event featured mesmerizing live musical performances, including a soulful Saraswati Vandana, a vocal rendition in Raag Basant, and an enchanting Raag Des performance on the Sarod, leaving the audience spellbound.
