Prayagraj, February 2, 2025 — Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is playing a pivotal role in fortifying communication infrastructure at the Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The state-owned telecom provider has established a dedicated customer service center within the Mela area to offer pilgrims and devotees on-site assistance, prompt complaint resolution, and uninterrupted communication services.
Free SIM Distribution and Enhanced Connectivity
Pilgrims arriving from across the country are being provided with free SIM cards corresponding to their respective circles. In the event of lost or damaged SIM cards, BSNL has arranged for replacements from all circles nationwide, eliminating the need for pilgrims to return to their home states. This complimentary service ensures that attendees can maintain contact with family and friends throughout the event. BSNL’s camp office, located at Lal Road Sector-2, oversees the management of these communication services.
Meeting Growing Demand for Advanced Services
With a noticeable surge in demand for fiber connections, leased line services, and mobile recharges, BSNL has made SIM cards from various states readily available. This initiative not only benefits the millions of pilgrims but also supports the security forces stationed at the Kumbh Mela. BSNL’s Chief General Manager for the Prayagraj commercial area, Shri B. K. Singh, reported that communication services remained consistent and reliable during peak events like the Amrit Snans on Makar Sankranti and Mauni Amavasya, despite the massive crowds.
Robust Network Infrastructure for Uninterrupted Services
To guarantee uninterrupted communication throughout Mahakumbh 2025, BSNL has activated 90 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) towers in the Mela area. These include 30 BTS operating on the 700 MHz 4G band, 30 on the 2100 MHz band, and 30 2G-enabled BTS. Additional services such as internet leased lines, Wi-Fi hotspots, high-speed internet via Fiber to the Home (FTTH), webcasting, SD-WAN, bulk SMS, M2M SIMs, and satellite phone services have also been deployed.
Through these comprehensive measures, BSNL is ensuring seamless communication for millions of pilgrims, administrative personnel, security forces, and volunteer organizations, thereby facilitating the smooth and efficient operation of Mahakumbh 2025.
