New Delhi, February 3, 2025: The Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, has launched the Ranbhoomi App and the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan initiative to highlight India’s sites of historical military significance. These initiatives aim to honor the sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces while promoting these sites as destinations of national pride and tourism.
The initiative encompasses 77 ‘Shaurya Gantavya’ sites across various states, each reflecting tales of bravery and valor. The Indian Army, working with state governments and the Ministry of Tourism, has implemented comprehensive safety measures for visitors to these sensitive and remote areas.
Key Safety Measures and Protocols:
- Military Point of Contact and Assistance: Visitors to high-risk border areas must coordinate with local army units for safety and clearance. Single-window facilitation systems have been established, and acclimatization protocols are advised in high-altitude regions.
- Controlled Access and Permits: Special permits regulate entry into certain high-altitude locations to ensure security.
- Emergency Response and Medical Aid: District hospitals are available in these areas, and the Army has protocols in place for emergency evacuations and immediate medical assistance.
- Weather Advisory: Regular weather updates are provided to prevent accidents in extreme conditions.
- Tourism and Environment Guidelines: Sustainable tourism practices are encouraged to protect fragile ecosystems and promote responsible travel.
Infrastructure and Digital Engagement:
The Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan initiative also serves as a digital platform to raise awareness about these historical sites. Many of these locations feature war memorials and museums, with infrastructure development supported by state-led schemes to enhance visitor amenities.
This announcement was made by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
