India’s GST Collections Rise by 12.3% in January 2025, Reaching Rs 1.95 Lakh Crore

India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue for January 2025 surged to Rs 1,95,506 crore, marking a 12.3% year-on-year growth compared to January 2024. This increase reflects the robustness of the Indian economy and improved compliance measures.

Key Highlights of GST Revenue – January 2025

Domestic Collections:

  • Central GST (CGST): Rs 36,077 crore (up from Rs 32,685 crore in Jan 2024)
  • State GST (SGST): Rs 44,942 crore (up from Rs 40,895 crore)
  • Integrated GST (IGST): Rs 53,623 crore (up from Rs 48,952 crore)
  • Cess: Rs 12,483 crore (up from Rs 11,173 crore)
  • Total Domestic GST Revenue: Rs 1,47,124 crore (10% growth YoY)

GST on Imports:

  • IGST on Imports: Rs 47,453 crore (up from Rs 39,598 crore)
  • Cess on Imports: Rs 929 crore (up from Rs 803 crore)
  • Total Import GST Revenue: Rs 48,382 crore (19.8% growth YoY)

Overall Gross GST Revenue (Domestic + Imports):

  • Total GST Revenue: Rs 1,95,506 crore (up from Rs 1,74,106 crore in Jan 2024, reflecting a 12.3% YoY growth)

Refunds and Net Revenue

GST Refunds:

  • Domestic refunds: Rs 14,392 crore (up from Rs 10,845 crore, reflecting a 32.7% increase)
  • Export refunds through ICEGATE: Rs 9,461 crore (up from Rs 8,411 crore, marking a 12.5% increase)
  • Total refunds: Rs 23,853 crore (up from Rs 19,255 crore, a 23.9% YoY increase)

Net Revenue After Refunds:

  • Net Domestic Revenue: Rs 1,32,732 crore (8% YoY growth)
  • Net Customs Revenue: Rs 38,921 crore (21.7% YoY growth)
  • Total Net GST Revenue: Rs 1,71,653 crore (10.9% YoY growth)

State-wise GST Revenue Growth – January 2025

Several states recorded notable growth in GST collections:

  • Maharashtra: Rs 32,335 crore (up 14%)
  • Tamil Nadu: Rs 11,496 crore (up 20%)
  • Gujarat: Rs 12,135 crore (up 11%)
  • Karnataka: Rs 14,353 crore (up 8%)
  • Uttar Pradesh: Rs 9,516 crore (up 11%)
  • Goa: Rs 695 crore (up 18%)
  • Ladakh: Rs 68 crore (up 39%)

While most states saw an increase, Himachal Pradesh (-7%) and Mizoram (-10%) experienced declines.
