New Delhi, February 4, 2025: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) is set to host the North East Trade and Investment Roadshow in Chennai on February 5, 2025. The event, scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM at Hotel Hilton, Guindy, will be inaugurated by Union Minister for MDoNER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
Key officials, including Shri Chanchal Kumar, Secretary, MDoNER, and Shri Shantanu, Joint Secretary, MDoNER, alongside senior representatives from the North Eastern states, will participate in the event.
The roadshow will feature Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings, offering potential investors a unique platform to directly engage with state representatives and explore diverse investment opportunities. Organized in collaboration with the State Governments of the North Eastern states, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) as the Industry Partner, and Invest India as the Investment Facilitation Partner, this event marks the eighth installment in a series of successful roadshows.
The eight North Eastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura—will present a wide range of investment prospects across various sectors, including agri-food processing, IT & ITES, entertainment & sports, energy, infrastructure & logistics, tourism & hospitality, education & skill development, healthcare, textiles, and handloom & handicrafts.
Driven by the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat and Viksit North East,’ the region has witnessed significant infrastructure advancements over the past decade. Improvements in roadways, airways, railways, and waterways have enhanced the quality of life for residents while boosting tourism and economic activity.
The North East Investor Summit continues to support this vision by attracting investments and unlocking the region’s potential for prosperity and development. Previous roadshows in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, along with the state seminar at Vibrant Gujarat, have garnered considerable interest from investors.
The Ministry also facilitated a signing and exchange of MoUs during the North East Investors Summit on March 6, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The recent Ahmedabad roadshow, attended by MoS for MDoNER Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, facilitated numerous B2G meetings, encouraging significant investment discussions.
The upcoming Chennai Roadshow aims to build on this momentum, providing investors with direct access to state officials and presenting the North East as a dynamic investment destination. Given the success of previous events, the Chennai roadshow is expected to attract significant attention, further solidifying Chennai’s role as a key financial hub in fostering economic growth for the North East.
