Rashtriya Karmyogi Jan Seva Programme: Encouraging a Citizen-Centric Approach

The Rashtriya Karmyogi Jan Seva Programme, organized by the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, took place at the Civil Services Officer’s Institute in New Delhi. This event aimed to encourage Central Government employees to adopt a citizen-focused and service-oriented approach to their work, known as the Karmayogi Way.

The programme is part of a larger initiative by the Government of India and the Capacity Building Commission, with Illumine Knowledge Resources (P) Ltd. as the knowledge partner. It focused on promoting a sense of service (Seva-Bhav) and accountability among government employees. Led by Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, Additional Secretary, the session combined training, motivational storytelling, and self-reflection to improve work culture and responsiveness to public needs.

Participants engaged in activities like interactive surveys, teamwork, and problem-solving discussions, structured into four 1.5-hour modules. By using stories from the Ramayana and other motivational examples, the programme highlighted the benefits of shifting from a basic “job-done” mindset to one focused on solutions, responsibility, and national progress.

Key takeaways for participants included:

  • Developing a service-oriented mindset with accountability.
  • Aligning personal and professional goals with ministry objectives.
  • Improving time management and fostering a solution-driven work ethic.

Participants also shared ideas on how to implement the Karmayogi approach to better meet citizen needs while achieving ministry goals. The programme emphasized that with a strong sense of purpose, love for the nation, and a commitment to service, employees can make a meaningful impact on society and contribute to national development.
